Debate Competition at GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research. PGDM Institute, Greater Noida

HR Club: “Affinity” of GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research. PGDM Institute, Greater Noida organized Debate Competition - “Your Voice Deserves to be Heard” on Saturday, October 10, 2020 for the students of PGDM Batch 2020-22 under the patronage of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions.

The session started with an invocation to Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, GLBIMR stated that debate competitions provide an opportunity to present your views on a topic and one could strongly defend the opinion by putting forward valid justifications.

The topic of the debate was “Depletion of Moral Values in Today’s Generation”. A total of 26 teams participated in the competition.

The Jury members for the competition were Ms. Shashi Bala Rai and Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, faculty members of GLBIMR.

The students shared their viewpoints on the topic in two categories - ‘For’ and ‘Against’. The students in ‘For’ category stated that being in contact with few people with unethical values due to wrong teachings doesn’t make the whole society wrong. They added that the youth is leading when it comes to issues such as women empowerment, mental health awareness, charity, etc. So the people who resist it are less tolerant to accept the change. The students in ‘Against’ category stated that the media must be blamed for this degradation as the tendency to do wrong goes up as our subconscious mind becomes more negative when exposed to such things. They added that casteism and racial discrimination is still prevalent due to the wrong mindset of the older generations who taught that this is the way our society works.

The students were highly appreciated by all for their sharp debating skills.
